How the Chappaqua Condo Market Demonstrates That All Real Estate is Local

Published on Tue, 31 Jan 2012 23:30:52 -0500 | J. Philip's Westchester Real Estate Blog

For the third time in the past 4 weeks, I have been contacted by a buyer who chose to call me directly instead of having their agent call me because their offer was not accepted. In each case, I have told the agent-and the buyer when they called- that I'd be happy to know what comparable sale they used to justify their price. In each case, I have heard the same thing in lieu of any other fact: It is a buyer's market. This is what I wrote earlier this week on the "buyer's market:"  the "buyer's [...]

Pleasantville, NY Voted 2nd Best Smelling City in the Galaxy

Published on Thu, 02 Feb 2012 23:46:10 -0500 | J. Philip's Westchester Real Estate Blog

I have often said that nearby Pleasantville is aptly named. It borders Briarcliff Manor to the east and is idyllic: a picturesque, charming little village on the Harlem line of Metro North with shops, eateries, and culture. I liked the added comfort of soft wheels and leather boots.  There was music....what a concept!    I started taking [...]

Get Your Feet Wet in Westchester County's Volunteer Water Quality Program

Published on Fri, 23 Apr 2010 18:17:19 -0700 | Susan Slotnick's Blog

Water quality is crucial in any community. I applaud the Citizens' Volunteer Monitoring Program (CVMP) for its inspired efforts to collect samples and data with the help of community members. Who better to participate than those who live, work, and play in Westchester County? In addition to getting the critical information needed to analyze water supplies, the county saves money and-might I add-promotes social and environmental responsibility. Even 14-year-olds can participate in the prog [...]
